OVERVIEW

Hecla owns the majority of the historic high-grade Keno Hill Silver District located in Canada’s Yukon Territory. We’re developing two underground deposits, the Bermingham mine and the Flame & Moth mine. This is a great opportunity to be part of the team that is operating one of the highest-grade silver operations in the world.

We are looking for an individual to join our growing team. The Millwright will report directly to the Mill Manager, or other designate (your “Supervisor”).

This is a 14 day on / 14 day off rotation at our Keno Hill Mine in Elsa, Yukon. All air and ground travel arrangements from POH (Point of Hire) to site and return are included for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess risk in the workplace, conduct Health & Safety workplace inspections, and ensure that issues are reported and promptly remedied
  • Demonstrate health and safety leadership within a team environment and promote environmental awareness
  • Perform pre-operational check and operate equipment per Safe Operating Procedures
  • Assemble, repair, install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, crushers, mills, compressors, generators, etc.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electric, and pneumatic systems
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks and blocking to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up, and repair of machinery
  • Clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance work on fixed equipment/machinery
  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Monitor equipment and processes and ensure equipment deficiencies and operational issues are reported clearly
  • Conduct trouble shooting activities when problems arise
  • Complete work orders, work sheets and daily logbooks
  • Maintain a high standard of performance in duties
  • Be an effective written and verbal communicator, including keeping your Supervisor, Planner, cross-shift and other team members fully informed at all times
  • Participate in site specific training as required
  • Comply with company standards, as well as Yukon Territory and Canadian federal standards
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Red Seal Interprovincial Journeyman Certificate as a Millwright
  • Mechanical aptitude in schematic reading, welding and torch cutting to perform repairs and fabrication
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of CMMS/Work Order system
  • UG Mining/Milling industry experience desired
  • Strong sense of integrity and ethics
  • Ability to develop and foster strong working relationships
  • Ability to work with a diverse cross-cultural workforce
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Physically fit and motivated to perform the duties of the position
