We are currently accepting applications for the position of:
PROCESS CONTROLS ENGINEER
The Process Controls Engineer is a key member of the maintenance team responsible for designing, developing, and managing the equipment to monitor and control mine Process Controls and related systems (Instrumentation, Automation, Network, Video Camera and HMI systems).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Create and implement new strategies to improve process efficiency.
Develop and design automation processes.
Design, test, and participate in the implementation of new processes in and around all of Lucky Friday’s Operations.
Design and retrofit existing systems as needed.
Address hardware, software, and instrument problems.
Participate in the Electrical/Process Controls department improvement processes.
Work collaboratively with IT, Engineering, Mine Operations, Mill Operations, Maintenance, and other departments as needed to accomplish goals.
Working with the Electrical Foreman, responsible for the reliability and integrity of all systems including mine and mill instrumentation, sensors/analyzers, PLC’s, Leaky Feeder, radio coverage, etc.
Manage contract work as needed to accomplish goals, ensuring the required contracts are in place and contractors are adhering to all Lucky Friday requirements.
Update computer software as needed, and test procedures.
Manage projects within cost and time constraints.
Maintain reporting procedures and develop reports as required.
Manage capital projects related to electrical as needed, including developing and evaluating Authorization for Expenditures (AFE’s) for capital funding requests.
Participate in Risk Assessment activities as required.
Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS include:
Bachelor’s degree with heavy emphasis in Process Controls such as Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
Prior experience in process controls engineering or a related field.
Experience in mining industry and power distribution preferred, including a general knowledge of surface, underground and concentrator operations.
Experience with ABB DCS and various plant PLCs and drives.
Must be computer literate and proficient in Excel and Word.
