Warehouse Technician
OVERVIEW
Hecla Yukon owns the majority of the historic high-grade Keno Hill Silver District located in Canada’s Yukon Territory. We’re developing two underground new deposits, the Bermingham mine and the Flame & Moth mine. This is a great opportunity to be part of the team that is operating one of the highest-grade silver operations in the world.
We are looking for an individual to join our growing team. The Warehouse Technician will report to the Supply Chain Superintendent. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all Warehousing activities.
This will be a 14 day on / 14 day off rotation at our Keno Hill Mine in Elsa, Yukon. All ground and air travel arrangements from Point of Hire (POH) to site and return are included for this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
- Safely perform the detailed goods receiving process, in a timely manner, for incoming material shipments. Duties include physically inspecting goods, ensuring an accurate match with both packing slips and purchase orders and receiving line items in the Inventory Management system (eMaint.);
- Identify and track OSND items (Overages, Shortages, Non-Conformances & Damages) and work closely with Purchasing to resolve;
- Ensure exceptional housekeeping for all Supply Chain assets & areas of responsibility (warehouse, laydowns, equipment etc.);
- Physically store materials in a safe and responsible manner while ensuring bin locations and quantities accurately match our Inventory Management system;
- Pick, kit, stage and issue materials for end-users based on work-orders for pickup or delivery;
- Perform regular inventory cycle and verification counts as well as month-end physicals in accordance with Company standards and audit requirements;
- Coordinate offloading of transport trucks delivering freight to the mine site;
- Prepare and arrange shipments departing site based on end-user or Departmental instructions;
- Safely operate various warehouse equipment including, counter-balanced forklift, wheel loader, telehandler & flat-deck pickup trucks;
- Maintain positive and professional relations with all key stakeholders;
- Practice and promote Company Environmental, Health, Safety, and Operational policies and procedures at all times.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in an Industrial Warehouse environment
- Minimum 3 years’ experience operating a counter balanced forklift, front end loader, pick-up trucks, flat-decks required
- Previous experience working with ERP systems, Inventory Management Systems & Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) required;
- Training and experience working with Dangerous Goods (WHIMIS, TDG, TDG Class 7)
- Strong attention to detail ensuring work is completed accurately and in a timely manner
- Excellent organizational & communication skills

- Ability to perform physical work associated with the role;
- Previous mining or heavy industrial experience
- Experience working in Northern Canada preferred
- Certified JP Partsperson / Warehouseperson with Red Seal Certification desirable
- Exposure to LEAN methodologies (5S) desirable.
