Sylvain Lessard
Vice President - General Manager, Casa Berardi
Sylvain Lessard was appointed Vice President – General Manager of the company’s Casa Berardi Mine in September 2022. Prior to joining Hecla, Mr. Lessard was Executive Vice President – Mining at Scully Mine for Tacora Resources from 2020 to 2022. He also served as General Manager of the Fire Lake and Mt. Write Mine for ArcelorMittal Mines Canada from 2017 to 2020 and as the company’s Fire Lake Mine Manager from 2015 to 2017, and Mining Area Manager from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, Mr. Lessard was Mining Superintendent at the Bloom Lake Mine for Consolidated Thompsons\Cliffs from 2011-2012 and Project Manager for Rio Tinto-IOC’s expansion at Kiewit from 2009 to 2011. Earlier in his career, Mr. Lessard was General Manager at the Fabie Mine for First Metals Inc. from 2006 to 2008 and worked as a blasting specialist at a variety of mining operations that mine gold, copper, zinc, and diamonds. He is a mining engineer and has more than 30 years of experience in both open pit and underground mining and processing.
