Greens Creek’s Commitment to Education and Workforce Development
To develop a talent pipeline in our communities, we partner with local organizations on programs specifically geared toward training students for a career in mining. For example, in Alaska we partner with the Juneau School District and the University of Alaska Southeast’s Pathways to Mining Careers on an Introduction to Mining Operations & Occupations course. This eight-week program is geared toward high school students. This year’s course concluded with a tour of Greens Creek, where students saw firsthand the many operations and career paths they’ve been exploring in the classroom. From geology to heavy equipment, the real-world exposure brought their learning to life and offered a glimpse of the exciting possibilities in the mining industry.
