U.S. House Natural Resources Committee Visits Hecla’s Greens Creek Mine

2/10/2026

Hecla hosted ten members of the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee for an exclusive tour of the Greens Creek Mine on Admiralty Island, Alaska. The visit gave committee leaders—including Chair Bruce Westerman and U.S. Representatives Nick Begich, Rob Wittman, Paul Gosar, Pete Stauber, Tom Tiffany, Harriet Hageman, Val Hoyle, Celeste Maloy, and Sarah Elfreth—an opportunity to see firsthand the work being done at the largest silver mine in the United States.

During the tour, committee members learned how Greens Creek responsibly produces metals essential to everyday life while also serving as a strong community partner and environmental steward. The visit provided lawmakers with valuable insight into how responsible mining and natural resource management intersect—informing policies that impact both Alaska and the nation.
