AEMA’s “I Am Mining” Campaign Highlights Greens Creek’s Veronica Friend

The American Exploration & Mining Association’s “I Am Mining” campaign recently featured Hecla’s Veronica Friend, a Purchaser at Greens Creek.
A Juneau native, Veronica’s connection to mining became a generational story when her parents started running tours at the historical AJ Mine, where she too gave tours during high school and shared the region’s mining history with both locals and visitors.
In her role within the materials department, Veronica supports site operations through the effective management of materials and services that contribute to operational reliability and continuity. Veronica’s story highlights the diverse backgrounds, career pathways, and community ties that define Hecla’s workforce and the mining industry as a whole.
