Greens Creek Hosts Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska Matches

Hecla Greens Creek was proud to host Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska Matches for an interactive information session focused on mining. Greens Creek Maintenance Planner Katie, who also serves as a Big Sister, helped bring Matches from Juneau to Greens Creek for the fun, hands-on learning experience.
The children learned about modern mining through a virtual tour of the mine and interactive activities, including how miners separate valuable minerals and how engineering helps keep underground environments safe and stable.
Meaningful engagement with local youth can help inspire the next generation of miners.
