Lucky Friday Hosts Underground Mapping Training for Students

Geologists from Lucky Friday recently partnered with students from Eastern Washington University and the University of Idaho to deliver hands-on underground mapping training at the historic Sierra Silver Mine in Wallace, Idaho.
Students worked alongside the team underground and gained firsthand experience in an active mining environment. They were introduced to the Anaconda method, a rigorous and systematic approach to geologic mapping widely used in the mining industry but rarely taught in university programs.
This partnership reflects Hecla’s continued support for workforce development while giving our team an opportunity to share their own experience with the next generation of geologists.
