Successful Reclamation at Troy Mine in Montana

The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) recently released a video, entitled “Back to Nature: A Story of Ongoing Reclamation at Troy Mine,” featuring Hecla and our reclamation work at Troy Mine in northwest Montana as an example of successful reclamation efforts.
Troy is a closed mine where we have completed most stages of reclamation and are now in the final phases. Throughout the process, we have worked in close partnership with MDEQ and the U.S. Forest Service. Efforts to date have included topsoil placement, as well as planting native grasses and more than 100,000 trees and shrubs to support the land’s return to productive use.
