Hecla Teams Demonstrate Safety Excellence at 2026 Central Mine Rescue Competition

Hecla’s commitment to safety and operational readiness was demonstrated at the 2026 Central Mine Rescue Competition, held in Juneau, Alaska. Teams from the company’s Lucky Friday and Greens Creek operations showcased their technical expertise, teamwork, and preparedness during a series of challenging events simulating real-world emergency response scenarios.

The Lucky Friday mine rescue team delivered a standout performance, placing in every event. The team earned first place in the Bench BG4 competition, which tests technical proficiency in breathing apparatus maintenance and troubleshooting. Additional results included second-place finishes in both First Aid and Team Tech, third place in Rope Rescue, and a second-place overall finish in the District standings.

The Greens Creek team also demonstrated strong performance, securing a third-place podium finish in the Team Tech event, which evaluates problem-solving, communication, and technical knowledge under pressure.

These results reflect the strength of Hecla’s safety culture and the ongoing investment in training and preparedness across its operations, ensuring teams are equipped to respond effectively when it matters most.
